The Olderpreneur Alliance supports new and aspiring later-life entrepreneurs through its Later Creator programme.

Older people come to entrepreneurship in many different ways and for many different reasons – as a rewarding alternative to either retirement or unsatisfactory employment; a means of supplementing inadequate pension and saving provision; or the realisation of a long-held ambition.

The Later Creator programme provides training, guidance and resources to meet the specific needs of later-life entrepreneurs – whatever their journey.

The Later Creator programme

Later Creator is a unique programme for aspiring and new later-life entrepreneurs.

This comprehensive response to the issues and challenges of later-life entrepreneurship is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed to start and run a business AND deal with a range of factors known to limit belief and self-confidence.

Features include:

Small cohort learning, with groups of 12-15 being small enough to provide a personal service, and large enough to allow for networking and shared learning. Meet other olderpreneurs and build confidence together!
A mix of group and individual learning, including both face-to-face and online sessions to help you get the most out of this eight-week course.
Test yourself and track your progress with the myNexus ESI Challenge, a unique app-based entrepreneurial toolkit.
Build confidence with customised tools designed to help participants develop the psychological capital (including hope, resilience and optimism) needed to embark on a successful entrepreneurial journey.
Work with an experienced Enterprise Guide, assigned to every participant to help guide them through the programme.
Finish with your own personal Action Plan, identifying the key performance measures and resources you need to bring your own entrepreneurial ambitions to fruition!

The programme is tailored to meet the needs of every participant, to ensure the right mix of pre-incubation (supporting anyone considering or just starting their own business) and business incubation (to help develop the business opportunity) support.

Entrepreneurial Pre-incubation

Workshops covering soft skills training in personal development, motivation, confidence, physical and mental wellbeing.
Resources audit to identify business skills, competences, assets and knowledge gaps.
Support to generate business ideas, including detailed analysis of the risk and opportunities of creating the business, and help with options mapping.

Business Incubation

Workshops focusing on specific business, digital, selling & marketing skills.
Sessions focusing on evaluations of potential business ideas (including market analysis, characteristics of potential clients, competition, creating a brand, and suitable business models).
A mobile diagnostic toolkit allowing participants to assess their competences and strengths, and measure progress through the course of the programme (in areas such as experience, knowledge, predispositions related to a business idea, and motivation).
